MPOR is a spin-out company from the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of electrical engineering. Established by a group of electrical engineers, researchers, and experts in the field of electroporation, that have 25 years of experience in electroporation device development. We develop various signal generators, applicators, and meters that are used in the field of biomedicine and biotechnology. We are specialized in the development of high-voltage pulse generators or electroporators, which generate pulses up to a few kilovolts and hundreds of amperes and duration from a few nanoseconds to several milliseconds
In the development of pulsed generators, we use various switching technologies (e.g. SiC-MOSFET, RF-MOSFET, MOSFET, IGBT, diode switches, and spark gaps) and circuit topologies (e.g. digital and analog amplifiers, Marx generators, and parallel and serial stacking of switches). Pulse generators are designed to enable the generation of a wide range of pulse parameters. The user interfaces are primarily graphical to enable entry of numerous parameters of complex electroporation pulses, or to allow control of the measured signals. The control units are mainly, due to the speed of signals, designed on FPGA circuits, and in slower electroporators, also on microprocessor systems. High-voltage power supplies have a variable output voltage to allow the generation of a wide range of amplitudes.
Matej Reberšek, Damijan Miklavčič, and Eva Pirc received the University of Ljubljana Rector’s Award for Best Innovation of 2021. The award-winning innovation was a prototype bipolar high-frequency electroporation, which was subsequently transferred to mPOR through a licensing agreement.
In 2022, mPOR was a finalist for the Slovenian Start-up of the Year award and the winner of the Best Digital Innovation at the Digital Innovation Challenge 2022.
We are currently marketing a laboratory electroporator called L-POR. However, we are seeking investments to expand into the medical field.
